The File menu (shown in Figure A) contains general options for file use and printing.

New - Opens an Untitled window where a new project can be created. |
| Open - Opens a dialog box where you can search for a project to be opened in XML Console. |

| Close - Closes the currently active window. |

| Save and Save As...
- Used to save the currently active file to disk. Save automatically saves the file to its given filename; if it does not have one yet (i.e., it is Untitled), it prompts the user to give it a filename. Save As... always prompts the user for a filename when saving. |

| Print Setup - Sets preferences for your project printouts. |
|
| Print - Prints your project. |
|
| (Last Edited Projects)- Lists up to the last five projects that were edited. To quickly open one of these projects, simply click on its name. A window will open for that project. |
|
| Exit - Closes all open XML Console windows and ends the application. |
